Our third quarter Charity Spotlight will be focusing on helping Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh. This wonderful organization helps not only women who are suffering from domestic abuse, but their children as well. For more than 40 years , Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh has been a leader in providing safety, shelter, support and guidance to all victims of domestic violence.
What does Women's Center & Shelter do?
Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh is more than an emergency shelter for women experiencing domestic violence and their children. It is a safe harbor that provides specialized care and support for women who have experienced all types of intimate partner violence from physical to emotional through Emergency Shelter, Legal Advocacy, a 24-Hour Hotline, Support Groups and more. Women’s Center & Shelter has been a trusted and respected resource in the Pittsburgh Community for more than 40 years, offering hope and healing to women and children who have suffered from the devastating effects of domestic abuse.
Today, Women’s Center & Shelter offers support and aid to more than 6,000 individuals each year, and continues to remain one of the leading regional programs for victims of domestic abuse and intimate partner violence.
What is Knichel Logistics going to do to help?
Knichel Logistics currently has a donation box in the office along with a list from WC&S of their current essential needs. The list includes the following:
- Gift Cards (VISA, Target, Walmart, Dollar Tree/General, etc.)
- Arm & Hammer Diaper Pail refill bags (located at all Target stores) and Diaper Genie bags
- New women’s underwear – Sizes 7, 8, and 9
- New diapers – Sizes 3, 4, and 5
- New women’s flip flops
- New wash cloths
- New bath towels
- New pajamas or robes (for women and children*)
- New slippers (for women and children*)
- New underwear (for women and children*)
- New umbrellas
- New air mattresses
- New body wash
- New shaving cream
- New sheet sets in twin
- Smartphones and cellphones (no chargers or accessories) – donations will result in a monetary donation to Women’s Center & Shelter through Shelter Alliance.
*= Children include both males and females up to the age of 18.
