The Knichel Logistics, Inc. Title IX Award is given to the Western PA Positive High School Athlete who has shown amazing leadership to her entire school. Congratulations to Samantha Dunlap from Fox Chapel High School on being selected as this year's recipient of a $1000 Scholarship!
Samantha has done some truly awesome things in her high school career! Per Samantha's coach:
Samantha Dunlap is one of the most accomplished athletes that I have ever coached. She has many accomplishments on the soccer field, but even more off the field. First, Samantha has been a member of the Fox Chapel Girls soccer team for 4 years, as well as a member of the Varsity basketball team and the Unified track team (Special Olympics affiliated), which embraces inclusion and athletics by creating a track team comprised of athletes with and without intellectual abilities.
Samantha is also the Club President (and 4-year officer) of the Best Buddies program, which provides social inclusion to students with and without disabilities. This 4.0 GPA student-athlete is also a part of several organizations at Fox Chapel High School including: The Peer to Peer Empowerment Program; the Student Council; the Diversity Council; Student Ambassador; and the School Counseling Advisory Board. Samantha has also been recognized for her service by the St. Lucy's Auxiliary for volunteering for over 150 hours in service to other young women. She was given the Fox Chapel Soccer Humanitarian award for her work in bringing friends from the Best Buddies Program into the soccer program and making it meaningful for all the participants. Samantha Dunlap embodies a true positive athlete by always working hard for herself, but more importantly, for others. I am proud to nominate Samantha Dunlap as a Positive Athlete, not only as her Coach at Fox Chapel, but as a member of the community where she has had such an impact.
